Welcome to Reception Learning 2015 – 2016
Welcome to our new Reception children. We have been learning about God and that He made us all different and we are all very special.
We have a very special visitor in Reception today – Helen the Hedgehog.
The children had a wonderful time learning about hedgehogs and it was a great treat to see a real hedgehog.
After our visit from Helen the hedgehog, we worked together to make a hedgehog home for Helen and her friends.
We also made our own hedgehogs from apples and played a game to count the prickles onto the hedgehog’s back.
Thank you to Crazy Creatures from Blackhill who kindly allowed us to have Helen the hedgehog for the morning.
We’re going on a bear hunt!
We went on a bear hunt to see what we could find. We found bears and honey hiding in the trees.
But… some of the bears were hurt! Luckily we have a hospital in our class to help.
Them bones, them bones, them dry bones!
After helping Brave Little Bear, we read a book called Funny Bones and learnt about bones and what they do. We made our own skeleton from straws, paint and even used potatoes to stamp a picture.
We went outside and made chalk skeletons by drawing around our friend’s. We had time for a sing along to the song ‘Them bones’ and made sure we gave our bones a shake as we danced!
We enjoyed talking about and drawing pictures of fireworks. We used our sounds to write some firework words. We also learnt about Guy Fawkes and worked together to make the important building called the Houses of Parliament.
We have been learning about poppies and why people wear them. We made our own poppies to help us remember the soldiers from the wars.
