Our aim is to raise funds to provide the school with equipment, resources that can not be funded from the school budget. We also hold fun events for the children, sometimes as part of the fundraising, such as “own clothes days” and discos.
All parents, grandparents and guardians of St. Mary’s children are welcome to join us.
How do we raise money?
Our biggest fundraising event, which is always well supported, is the Christmas Fair. There are numerous stalls, all run by staff, parents and Year 6 pupils. We also raise money by using the bags to school day and pennies from Heaven collection. We also have family fundays in the Summer and a variety of adult only social evenings in the school hall. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome all suggestions.
There is also a social side to the Friends. It is a perfect way to raise money for school and make friendships which develop as your children progress through the school and beyond.
Items and Events by the Friends
These are just some of the items that we have purchased for school and some of the events we organise.
- 3 Interactive whiteboards
- 2 Overhead projectors
- Books and games
- Audio equipment
- Tracksuits for school teams
- Additional curriculum items for Foundation, KS1 and KS2
- Children’s disco
- Selection boxes for each child
- Ice-cream van to school each summer
- Halloween Disco
We are unable to list everything, but every penny raised is spent on the children as they need it.
Please come along to the Friends of the School meetings and share your ideas. We can only provide our children with these extras through parents support.
Thank-you for your help.
