Every Day Matters:
- If your child has 10 days holiday in a school year they will have 180 days at school and 185 days off.
- If your child has 10 days holiday a year then they can only achieve a 94.74% attendance figure.
- If your child has 10 days holiday and 5 days off sick a year then they can only achieve a 92.11% attendance figure.
The school is aware that not every missed session has a detrimental impact, and 15 days a year does not sound a great deal or a cause for concern but if this was contextualised as your child having 15 days off each school year, during their 13 year academic period comprising Nursery through to Year 11, then they will miss 195 days of learning which is more than an entire academic school year. I’m sure you will agree that this poses a risk.
Good attendance ensures pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially, leading to positive life chances in the future. St Mary’s is fully committed to ensuring all children can access these life chances; please contact the school if there are any barriers to good attendance so that we can provide the required support. Together we can make a difference.
